Infant squirrels are often found after a nest has been blown down in a storm. They should be placed in a box at the base of the nest tree. The parents usually come and retrieve them when people are not around. Please keep pets and children away. Watch the squirrels from a distance. If you don't see an adult squirrel return for them in a few hours, please contact PWRC for further instructions.

If the squirrel is following you around your yard or trying to climb your leg it is a good indication that it may be actually orphaned. DON’T try to feed the baby squirrel milk or any other food from your home. Squirrels are not able to properly digest cow’s milk, which therefore leads to bloating and diarrhea. DO place the orphaned squirrel in a box with a towel or t-shirt and place the box in a warm, quiet and dark location and call the center for further instructions and advice on what to do next.
